THAT CAMP @ MOLLOY COLLEGE, MONDAY, JULY 13TH, 9:30 AM TO 4:30 PM
The Humanities & Technology Camp (THAT Camp) is model for organizing a low-cost participatory event that is designed to introduce students to digital technologies and develop interest in digital literacy. THAT Camp is an intentionally interdisciplinary event and will draw from a broad range of expertise in digital composition, digital art, electronic music & sound, and new media. The event will emphasize real world skills through the practical application of digital technologies.
We have two general objectives for our upcoming THAT Camp.
1) To provide a “low stakes” environment for students to encounter and interact with new digital technologies. The focus of this event will be on participation and interaction. Event leaders will demonstrate a tool, idea, or concept, outline its practical value, and create an environment in which participants can engage with the tool directly.
2) To develop broad interest in digital composition, new media, electronic music, and digital art. THAT Camp will ideally demonstrate how the skills taught in the humanities at every level and in every area enhance or can be enhanced by digital tools.
At Molloy College’s THAT Camp, you will be led by professors who specialize in each of the areas mentioned above (digital composition, new media, music, and art) and use cutting edge technologies housed on the Molloy campus.
